The Reality of Anti-Slip floor surfaces

We all desire / want a safe floor to walk upon, however given that floor manufacturers / suppliers have nil control over what footwear is being used upon our floor surfaces, the alchemy is there for a potential fall. We do our level best to specifiy to the end user a tried and tested flooring surface, but in the end it is the responsibility of each individual to ensure they treat their own health and safety with respect. For example a wearer of indoor soled shoes coming from within a house carpet environment and then stepping out onto a balcony which is wet can lead to slips and falls if real care is not excercised.
In my experiense the addition of a coarse or rougher texture to the floor surface is very hard on the shoe sole itself, leads to a surface which is very difficult to cleanse and can be very damaging to the individuals skin if they fall upon this coarseness.
A raised deck type floor surface with free drainage and ventilation can make all the difference to the safety and health of a high risk floor. Such are the properties found in TactTiles - ventilated non-toxic floor tiles. They are not wanted all over the home, but are particularly succesful where wet floors are causing concern such as shower trays, balconies, swimming pool surrounds and changing / shower rooms.
Bacteria and bugs cannot grow on TactTiles unlike rubber matting and their health benefit is a further factor. UV stable for outdoor applications they will last the domestic client 15-20 years.
The price is very reasonable when taking into account this long-service. They can be DIY installed however most of our Clients agree it is our expertise of fitting ahd the desired finish applied that makes the Tact Enviro experience well worth while along with the installation warranty.

You can also use anti-slip glazed porcelain mosaic tiles manufactured by German company JASBA which have the patented HYDROTECT surface, which is basically a chemical permanently "sintered" or fired into the surface of the tile during the final stages of production and is effectively "self-cleaning". The hydrophilic (water attracting) properties distributes the water as a wafer-thin film evenly over the the tile surface and ensures that lime scale, dirt and fat are rinsed off easily.

This also works well with an anti-slip surface (notoriously difficult to clean) and JASBA manufacture a very large range of mosaic tiles with slip resistant surfaces which are stocked in the UK by The Mosaic Company (www.mosaiccompany.co.uk).
